What is Naturopathy?
Naturopathy can achieve astounding improvements in a person’s quality of life with simple yet effective techniques for self-healing. The meaning of naturopathy differs slightly according to the country in which it is practiced. In Australia, currently naturopathy is a practice heavily driven by herbal medicine and clinical nutrition, underpinned with training in the health sciences (anatomy and physiology, pathology, pharmacology). It combines the art and science of medicine using traditional forms of healing and modern scientific knowledge to prevent and treat illness.
Herbal Medicine
Herbal medicine is the oldest and still most widely used system of medicine in the world. Today, herbal medicine is increasingly being validated by scientific investigation, which seeks to understand the active chemistry of the plant. Herbs are still very popular due to their lack of side effects, and their ability to heal many different disease states. As a qualified herbalist, I can create an individual formula for you, taking into account the unique way your body is experiencing disease, and treating your symptoms as well as the cause(s) of your illness. This is done using a blend of liquid extracts. Herbs can be taken as liquids, tablets, capsules or teas. I use only herbs of the highest quality, and therapeutic strength, supplied by Australian or New Zealand manufacturers.
Working together
When you come to see me, it is a unique opportunity to take time for yourself, to talk and really be listened to. Together we will carefully examine your current and past states of health and work together to understand the underlaying cause(s) of your health problem. I will take the time to understand your individual concerns before tailoring a program that is appropriate and realistic.
